Canada Day Weekend At The Aberfoyle Market
Oh Canada! The Aberfoyle Farmers Market wishes this glorious country a very Happy Birthday! And in honour of that let us celebrate with the local bounty it provides us!
We are all about red fruit this week! Sweet cherries & the first picking of raspberries will be available at Warner Orchards. Strawberries will still be available at Vandenbroek farm along with new crops beans and potatoes. There is lots more in store so keep reading.
Burrs and the Bees will have the first batch of Spring 2016 honey available. Due to the different flowers growing in each season, the flavour of the honey changes. Do you have a seasonal preference?
Aberfritter Snack Co. will be “Canadian-izing” their fresh apple fritters for this special day and will be introducing fresh cut fries to the menu! Be sure to stop by and show your Canadian pride.
Did you know that Lincoln Mushroom farm not only brings you fresh local mushrooms each week, but they are also an official County of Wellington garbage bag re-seller? The price for bags goes up on July 1st, so stop by this weekend to stock up and avoid the increase in price.
New vendor Habitees will be with us for the first time selling their locally made organic t-shirts featuring local artist images of endangered species.
We have lots of local produce available! Fruit: Strawberries ,sweet cherries, raspberries. Greens (red & green lettuce, swiss chard, kale, spinach, bok choy), beets, cucumbers & zucchini, peas, beans (yellow & green) garlic scapes, radishes, sweet potatoes, new potatoes, rhubarb & herbs. Visit Warner Orchards, Parker Family Farms, Nith Valley Organics and Vandenbroeks Family Farm to see what individual selection each of these lovely vendors have.
Love your market? We are in the running for a $5000 grant from the Oaktree Project. We would love for everyone to write a quick “story” about what the market means to you. We have partnered with the Volunteer Centre of Guelph and would love to make your favorite market even better.
