Impaired Driver Hit & Run In Puslinch
On March 14, 2016 at approximately 6:30 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a possible impaired driver that was involved in a collision on Highway 401. The vehicle was then involved in a second collision with another motor vehicle just off Brock Road prior to it entering a ditch and getting stuck.
Investigation revealed that a 2012 Toyota Camry was travelling westbound when it sideswiped another vehicle and failed to remain at the scene. Witnesses followed the vehicle and observed it weaving from lane to lane, nearly colliding with other vehicles prior to it exiting the 401 onto Brock Road. The vehicle pulled into the parking lot of Tim Hortons on the corner of Brock Road and Nicholas Beaver Road. The vehicle drove thru the parking lot and out another exit where it collided with a second vehicle. The vehicle then entered the ditch where it became stuck.
Officers arrived at the scene and located the driver who appeared to be extremely tired with slurred speech and was staggering. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) examined the driver who admitted that he had consumed medication prior to leaving work that caused him to be tired. The driver was placed under arrest.
His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.
