Market Minute. Sunrise Fundraiser!
This week the Aberfoyle Farmers’ Market is partnering with their vendors to raise funds for
Sunrise Therapeutic Riding and Learning Centre, a great organization right here in Puslinch.
Sunrise mission is “to develop the full potential of children and adults with disabilities and lead
them closer to independence through a therapy, recreation, horse riding, life skills and farm
related activity program.”
It’s peach season and Sunrise will be serving Warner Orchards peaches and Dover Dairy Bar
ice cream at Dover’s stall. The cost is a pay what you wish donation. And the first 75 donations
of $10 or more will receive their treat in a Sunrise Martini glass! Click here to find out more about Sunrise
Have you tried Aberfoyle’s own Hitchhiker Lemonade? The gals will be back this Saturday and
if you haven’t tried this delicious lemonade concocted from a homemade recipe you haven’t lived
yet! All natural ingredients in six fabulous flavours will make you feel like summer. Hitchhiker
is donating $1 from each 6 pack to Sunrise. I’ve had all six and I can’t decide my favourite yet so
I will keep trying.
Visit the market’s community booth: Slow Food Canada – University of Guelph Chapter.
They will be fundraising to attend the Terra Madre Giovanni Slow Food Event in Milan, Italy.
Buy tickets to win a giant basket of local seasonal produce and help this group learn more
internationally about Slow Food.
If you have been following the Market Minute every week you will know I often slip in mention
of my Baltic heritage. Being Latvian, fresh homemade pickles from crisp and lovely seasonal
cucumbers are a staple in my diet. So I’m really looking forward to trying out the Market Fresh
recipe of the week: Crispy Garlic Dill Pickles!! Click here for the recipe.
Be a good peach (or pickle!) and come to the Aberfoyle Farmers’ Market open every Saturday
until the end of October from 8am to 1pm at the Optimist Recreation Centre on Brock Road in
Aberfoyle.
