Puslinch Prowlers U11 Black Victorious Again!
The first place Puslinch team went to Ponsonby last night, in hopes of continuing their hot streak. And they did just that, while show casing their stingy defense. Many of the Puslinch players got in on great defensive plays last night and Puslinch’s pitching continued to dominate. The team’s defense only let four runners cross the plate on them this evening, while their offense did more then enough by scoring nine runs, as Puslinch Black won their third straight game, 9 to 4.
In the first inning, the first two batters got on, with Chase Corlett Tuck laying down a perfect bunt to start the game off, and then stealing two bases. Sam Jones followed that by taking a walk. Unfortunately, that was all they could muster, and no runs to show for it. In the bottom of the inning, Puslinch returned the favor, by shutting the door on Ponsonby and leaving a man of theirs stranded at third as well.
In the second inning, the well oiled Puslinch offence took over. Big hits by Zach Lang, Tim Ervin, Elise Dodds, and Brianna Arens, helped lead the way. But the big hit came from the new rookie in his first game, Will Shepherd, where he helped hit in the final fifth run of the inning. Also, in that mix was the other young rookie, Keegan Pace, scoring, yet again, in this young season. In the bottom of the inning, Puslinch’s defense showed up again, with Chase striking out two more in the inning. An incredible throw and tag on a steel attempt by Ponsonby, by the combo of Tim Ervin and Beckett Villeneuve, helped end the second inning with another zero on the board for the defense.
In the top of the third Puslinch was at it again with the bats, big hits by Beckett, Trent Lawler, and Zach Lang, lead the way. Chase, Sam, Beckett, and Trent all scored. And Keegan got on base, yet again. In the bottom of the third, coming in for relief pitching, Henry Ervin had a third consecutive strong, straight outing. Going against the heart of Ponsonby’s order, Henry struck out one, and had his defense make two nice plays at first base to get him out of the inning while only giving up 3.
In the final inning, Puslinch was facing Ponsonby‘s, amazing young pitcher, Keegan Bambach for a third straight inning, and he made short work of Puslinch, striking out all three. Keagan will be trading jerseys, not colors, in the upcoming weeks as he will travel with Puslinch to the provincials and be one of the key pitchers later on this month for Puslinch. In the bottom of the fourth and last inning, one of Puslinch’s Aces, Trent Lawler came in to save the game. A very strong inning by Trent held the heart of the order of Ponsonby to only one run, to close out Puslinch’s 3rd win of the early season!
Key notes to the game, was first year, rookie sensation, Tim Irvin, throwing two runners out at second base with the help of Beckett Villeneuve laying tags on the runners each time. And, also, two key at bats for Aden Johal, where he fouled off, uncountable pitches to wear down the Ponsonby pitching. He deserved much better fate on this evening, but ach of his at bat were very entertaining.
The U 11 Prowlers Black team will be back in action, at home, at The Old Morriston Ball Park on Tuesday night next week at 6 PM, taking on Alma. Please come out and support, we love the big crowds that you’ve been blessing us with!
