Family Literacy Day 2021
Travel the World Together
Family Literacy Day takes place every January 27. Since 1999, thousands of schools, libraries, and other community groups across Canada have participated to highlight the importance of reading and writing.
Taking time every day to read or do a learning activity with children is crucial to their development. It can improve a child’s literacy skills dramatically and can help a parent improve their skills as well! Pick up one of our Take-and-Make activity kits or Story Time kits or try one of these fun ideas from FLD Honorary Chair and author/illustrator Barbara Reid.
- Research a county of interest to your family, such as where your ancestors came from or a place you’d like to visit one day
- Learn how to say hello and goodbye in different languages
- Find an international dish to make and enjoy together
