A Celebration Of Life: John Aikens
It is with heavy hearts we announce that John passed away at his home in Puslinch, on Friday, April 24, 2020, in his 81st year. Beloved husband and best friend for 57 years of Nancy (George), loving brother of Sandra Dobbie, beloved father of Crista, Carla Drowns (Tony), Conrad, Carol (Ian), Cari-Lynn Reid (Nathan), and son-in-law Kevin Anderson. Proud Grampa to Jessica (Darren), Taylor (Rebecca), Ethan, Trent and Ryder. Great-Grampa to Shaelah and Aria. Predeceased by his father Wilson Aikens (2004), his mother Margaret (2001) and son-in-law Terry Drowns (2010). He will be fondly remembered by all his family and friends.
John spent his entire life on the family farm, on the third concession Puslinch. He worked close to fifty years driving Transport trucks. In 2004, he retired from trucking. At that time, they turned their farm into a training centre for Standardbred horses (Shamrock Training Centre). John made many life-long friends as a member of the Roamers Car Club since 1958. He loved gatherings with family and friends, anything for a good laugh and reminiscing about the good old days. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Sunrise Therapeutic Riding and Learning Centre.
