OPP Updates: Attempted Property Theft And Arrest At R.I.D.E. Stop

On Monday morning, January 21, 2019 members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a vehicle and barn being entered at a residence located on Townline Road in Puslinch Township sometime overnight.

The barn and the vehicle were both unlocked.

The suspect attempted to steal a small ATV that was in the barn however, the battery was dead and it was later located in the ditch, just off the driveway. The complainant’s personal property from the vehicle was strewn about in the snow, but thankfully in this incident, nothing appears to have been stolen.

PROHIBITED DRIVER ARRESTED AT R.I.D.E.

On Thursday January 17, 2018 at approximately 2:40 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting R.I.D.E. spot checks on Gore Road near Side Road 20 where they investigated the male driver of a sedan that entered into the check point.

Officers determined that the male was operating a motor vehicle while prohibited from driving and he was placed under arrest.

31-year-old Mark KUBICZ of Kitchener has been charged with Operate Motor Vehicle While Prohibited contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada, Drive While Under Suspension and Fail to Surrender Permit contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and Fail to Surrender Insurance Card contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on February 22, 2019 to answer to the charges.
