County Staff Redeployed To Assist WDG Public Health With Vaccine Clinics

The County of Wellington has redeployed 25 staff to assist
Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health (WDG) with COVID-19 vaccination clinics.

County staff will assist with data entry of consent forms at various mobile sites and at the hub
site at the former Groves Memorial Hospital in Fergus.

The Government of Ontario has developed a software system called COVAX which requires real
time populating with recipients’ information. Having County staff take on the data entry will
make the vaccination process much more efficient.

“The size and scope of the project of providing everyone in our region a COVID-19 vaccine who
wishes to have one will require a major collaborative effort. I wish to thank the Warden,
councillors and staff of Wellington County for this support and their valued partnership in the
largest public health campaign in decades,” said Dr. Nicola Mercer, Medical Officer of Health
and CEO, Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health.

“The County of Wellington will continue to support Dr. Mercer and the Wellington-Dufferin-
Guelph Public Health team in any way possible,” said Warden Kelly Linton. “Having County staff
take on the data entry component of the vaccination clinics will expedite the vaccine roll out.
The faster we can get people vaccinated, the faster we can resume a sense of normalcy in our
lives.”

Staff will be remain employees of the County, but will work alongside WDG Public Health for
approximately 3-6 months. Additional County staff may be redeployed if necessary.
