COUNTY RECRUITING LICENSED CHILD CARE PROVIDERS FOR EMERGENCY CHILD CARE

WELLINGTON COUNTY AND GUELPH – The Wellington Home Child Care Agency is expanding to provide Emergency
Child Care Services for health care workers and first responders in Wellington County and the City of Guelph during the COVID-19 outbreak.

The County of Wellington is looking for individuals who were working in licensed child care as of March 1, 2020 to provide temporary contracted child care in either their own home or the homes of health care workers and/or first
responders.

“Recognizing the need for emergency child care for health care workers and first responders, the Government of Ontario has asked the County of Wellington to assist in our service delivery area,” said Warden Kelly Linton. “We have already opened two of our child care centres (1 in Guelph and 1 in Wellington County) but there is a great need for more spaces. If you have the qualifications and are able to assist, please consider doing so.”

“We have had an overwhelming response to our online application for Emergency Child Care and are responding to families as quickly as possible when spaces become available,” said Luisa Artuso, Director of Children’s Early Years.

All requirements set out in the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014, will apply to licensed child care settings providing emergency child care services. These setting must also follow the Wellington Emergency Child Care Guidelines which outlines enhanced measures to help limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
