Impaired Driver Arrested
On November 14, 2019 at approximately 9:20 p.m. a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the driver of a 2002 sedan on Townline Road near Stonebrook Road that failed to stop at a stop sign.
While speaking with the driver police detected the odour of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. A Roadside Screening Device test was conducted which resulted in a fail. During the subsequent search, the officer seized a partially full container of liquor that was in the cup holder as well as a glass container containing marihuana bud from the passenger seat. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.
Dana Andrew MCFARLANE, 37-years-old of Cambridge has been charged with Impaired Operation – 80 Plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code, Disobey Stop Sign contrary to the Highway Traffic Act, Drive Motor Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available contrary to the Cannabis Control Act 2017 and Adult Drive Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor contrary to the Liquor Licence Act.
The accused will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on December 20, 2019 to speak to the charges. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.
