Two Drivers Charged With Impaired Operation In Puslinch

On October 14, 2019 members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) check on Gore Road near Cambridge. At approximately 2:30 p.m. the driver of a white sedan entered the R.I.D.E. check.

Officers spoke with the driver and formed the opinion that they were under the influence of alcohol. The driver was also in possession of an open can of beer and failed to produce a valid driver’s licence. A Roadside Screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing. Upon the results of those test, the driver received a 3-day, Warning Range suspension. The driver was issued two Provincial Offence Notices, one for Failing to Surrender Licence and the other for Driving a Motor Vehicle with Open Liquor.

Officer’s noticed that driver picking up the defendant from the operations centre appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. A Roadside Screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and brought in for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Beverley W. COOK, 56-years-old of Waterdown has been charged with Impaired Operation – 80 Plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on November 12, 2019.

On October 13, 2019 at approximately 10:00 p.m. a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the driver of a pick-up truck that was stopped on the shoulder of Wellington Road 34 with its hazard lights on.

While speaking with the driver, officers formed the opinion that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. A Roadside Screening Device (ASD) test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Martin WILLIAMS, 37-years-old of Georgetown, has been charged with Impaired Operation and Impaired Operation – 80 Plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph on November 15, 2019 to answer to the charges.
