Puslinch Roots And Rubber Boots
First and foremost I would like to thank the community for helping to make the 2019 Aberfoyle Fall Fair another success!
For the first time in a while the stands were full for the tractor pull. It also helped that the rain stopped earlier in the day. At the back of community centre, the roar of chugging tractor engines could be heard as he/she pulled a variety of heavy weights. On the soccer fields there were bouncy castles and a magician doing tricks for all who wanted to watch. Inside the hall and in the blue shed the judging of over a thousand entries (ex. Canning, produce, baking etc.) were taking place. Lucky judges!
Then on Saturday, Sept 7th we started all over again. Horse jumping started at 9:00 am, then children’s races on the ball diamond at 9:15 a.m., at 10 a.m. the bouncy castles were blown up and ready for jumping and finally the hall/shed was open for the viewing of prize winning entries. Vendors were also ready to sell their home made items or other various products.
Thank heavens we had many volunteers to help out with the selling of the children’s bracelets, handing out prizes, running the games in the white tent, managing old McDonald’s farm, working the exhibits in the hall, picking up garbage and making sure that the on going problems got ironed out.
I loved watching the excitement on the children and adult faces as they made and walked through a variety of shaped bubbles. These glistening objects floated far and near due to the sunny day.
So what will you be doing next Sept 11th or 12th of 2020?
- blowing bubbles
- watching the 4H sheep show
- bringing your own ATV to pull and perhaps win a prize
- entering your canning or baked goods
- buying a piece of homemade pie from a vendor
- watching the blacksmith create something from metal
- or looking at your prize winning tomatoes that you grew for the garden club.
If any of the above ideas interest you, look for the new fall fair booklet available at the library/township office in early to late may.

The making of bubbles was a hit by a large variety of ages. Ellie, Charlotte, Shan and Avirag loved it!
The garden tractor pull was an interesting event that I had not had the chance to see before.
Avery and Jasmine made good use of all the bouncy castles.
The fair is lucky enough to have Hugh helping out with the 4h sheep competition.
I’m not sure what information George is relaying to his fellow tractor pull attendees, but I’m sure it was interesting.
I would use “A collection of Suttons” to describe this image.
Joan would be tickled pink with all these entries.
The quilts were amazing to look at.
All these ingredients would make a great soup!
The winners for The Bill Crow Memorial 4H sheep show were Josh Brander and Chelsea Weiler (white logo shirts).
Luckily for the fair Karen, Mark, Lynn and Cathy Lagos (Crow) were on hand to present ribbons and cheques to these hard working individuals.
