Over 30 elementary and secondary students from the Wellington Catholic District School Board recently competed at the Skills Ontario Competition making our community proud.
Competitors were in Toronto May 6 and May 7 to compete in the country’s largest skilled trades and technologies competition. Students from the district competed in Lego Robotics, Lego Mechanics, VEX Robotics, Hairstyling, Graphic Design Studio Production, Health and Safety, TV Video, Construction, Technology and Green Energy challenges. Throughout all the competitions, students showed off their skills and talents including global competencies such as creativity, problem-solving and innovation.
Bishop Macdonnell student Elisha Levak (Grade 12 student from Puslinch) came home with a gold medal in Graphic Design Studio Production and will advance to the national competition representing team Ontario in Nova Scotia later this month. This award is the fourth in five years that a student from the specialized district program, M&T Graphics Factory was recognized at Skills Ontario. The program is a collaboration with M&T Printing Group under the leadership of Teacher, Chuck Temple.
Congratulations to all students who competed at Skills Ontario, to the medal winners and their dedicated coaches.
Good luck to Elisha as she advances to Nova Scotia for the Skills Canada Competition!
