R.I.D.E. Checks Busy In Puslinch
MAN FLEES RIDE, NOW FACING CHARGES
On Wednesday June 20, 2018, members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) check on Gore Road, near Cambridge. At approximately 11:00 p.m., the driver of a grey SUV entered the RIDE check. Officer where speaking with driver when he fled in his vehicle, narrowly missing officers at the RIDE. With the assistance of Waterloo Regional Police the male and vehicle were located in Cambridge. He was arrested.
26-year-old, Ronald Rodrick Vincent DARK, of CAMBRIDGE was charged with Driving While Disqualified, Careless Driving and with Failing to Stop for Police. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph court on July 24, 2018.
DRUNK DRIVER STOPPED
On Saturday June 23, 2018 members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) Check on Gore Road, near Cambridge. At approximately 9:30 p.m. the driver of a black pickup-truck entered the R.I.D.E. check.
While speaking with the male driver, officers formed the opinion that he was under the influence of alcohol. A Roadside Screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. He was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.
47-year-old Fernando M. SILVA of Branchton has been charged with Driving with Over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Court on July 20, 2018.
