Puslinch Kodiaks gearing up for ISC World Championships
By Jordan Duffield.
The Puslinch Kodiaks are starting to prepare for the start of another season of senior men’s fast pitch. They are ready for a big season, where the league play and tournaments will be all leading to the qualifier, and hopefully and entry in to the world championships, which are being held in Kitchener once again this year.
The Kodiaks league play, which will be in the Golden Horseshoe league once again, will start up on Tuesday May 15th, with a home game against the Hamilton Pirates. Their home night will be on Tuesday night’s, and their first 4 games are all home games (May 15th, 22nd, 29th, and June 5th).
The Kodiaks will start their tournament season on the may 25-27 in Niagara. Their second tournament of the year is the important one. It is the qualifier for the World’s tournament, and it is being held in Mitchell, Ontario on the June 15-17th weekend. A good showing by the Kodiaks in that tournament will most likely mean and invite to the World Championships.
From there the Kodiaks are expecting to be in a tournament a little closer to home, in Ponsonby, on the July 6-8 weekend.
If everything goes well in all these tournaments, the Kodiaks hope to be playing in August at the World Championships in Kitchener, which are being held on the August 11-18th week. The Kodiaks were in this tournament 3 years ago, and finished with a 1-4 record. They are eagerly wanting another chance to prove themselves a better team against the best players and team in the world.
We hope to see our usual fan club at our home game this year, as well as any new faces to help cheer us on! We really do appreciate the home town fans that come watch us play, and we’re hoping with the big tournaments this year, we can put on a good show every night in preparation!
