It Was A Day For Remembering
On Friday, Nov. 10th Aberfoyle held two Remembrance Day Assemblies. All members in the gym had their eyes on Mr. Fiddes as he gave reasons why we should be thankful for this day. He stated, “that Aberfoyle is lucky to have so many children following the A (accept others), C (care for others) and E (excel everyday) school motto. Each class made a wreath that was laid at the front of the gym. Braidy and Madilynn read “In Flanders Fields”.
The kindergarteners shared a poppy song, the Intermediate choir sang “Let it be” and the grade 4’s shared a shortened version of the book “Sadako and the 1000 cranes”.
Comments from children of a variety of ages about why we have Remembrance Day are:
April- to remember everything that people went through to make our country free and peaceful.
Isabelle – to remember who fought in the war.
Braidy – to remember our soldiers that fought for us- to remember by wearing a poppy- to remember that soldiers fought for us to have peace
