Wayne Stokley’s legacy lives on with the naming of a local trail in his memory.
The trail, for which Stokley himself advocated, officially opened on June 7 as a commemorative marker was unveiled at the trailhead behind the Puslinch Community Centre.
On hand were family, friends, staff and political colleagues of Stokley who passed away in May 2016.
“It is wonderful to be here with Wayne’s family and many friends and colleagues,” said Wellington-Halton Hills MPP Ted Arnott.
“Wayne was an outstanding person in so many respects. We remember him fondly and miss him greatly. He made a great contribution and is well remembered by all of us.”
Arnott added, “It is very appropriate and fitting we are remembering Wayne with this trail. Wayne was promoting the trail from its beginning during his term on council.”
Puslinch Mayor Dennis Lever noted Wellington-Halton Hills MP Michael Chong was unable to attend, but sent a letter the mayor read to those gathered.
