Puslinch resident Nathan Skoufis Has Qualified For Quebec Open World Martial Arts Championships
Nathan Skoufis, 22, lifetime Puslinch resident and owner and Head Instructor of Guelph Family Martial Arts has qualified for the Quebec Open World Martial Arts Championships to be held in Quebec City.
The Quebec Open is one of the world’s premier events and Canada’s top event drawing competitors from all over the globe. Skoufis will be entering the Quebec Open seeded as the #1 ranked NASKA fighter in the world. NASKA is the world’s largest and most prestigious sanctioning body for martial arts tournaments and the Quebec Open is Canada’s only NASKA rated tournament and World Championship. NASKA ranks fighters based on their performance throughout the year and Skoufis has held his #1 ranked mark consecutively for three years.
The Quebec Open was one of the first NASKA tournaments that he had competed in. Skoufis at that time entered unranked and defeated all of the world’s top ranked fighters on route to capturing the Overall World Grand Championships. On that historic moment, Skoufis won by TKO over all of his opponents, resulting in an automatic victory – a record that stills remains today. At that same event, Skoufis captured attention from many martial arts sponsors, including Hayabusa a company that sponsors UFC Champions George St. Pierre and Dominick Cruz.
The final night show in Quebec, where opponents do battle to claim first place, has an attendance of nearly 20,000 people and is world-renowned for its size. Skoufis will be aiming to capture another victory at the Quebec Open to add to his historic resume. Skoufis has championship victories in Chicago, Philadelphia and London already in 2017 alone and will be looking to extend this streak.
