$3 Million for New Dairy Centre at Elora Research Station
Elora Dairy Livestock Research and Innovation Centre to receive $3 million in federal funding through the Canadian Agriculture Investment Program
FERGUS – Michael Chong, Member of Parliament for Wellington-Halton Hills, today announced $3 million of federal money through the Canadian Agricultural Adaptive Program to help support Dairy Farmers of Ontario set up the Livestock Research and Innovation Centre at the University of Guelph’s Elora Research Station.
The Canadian Agricultural Adaptive Program is a $50 million initiative designed to support industry-led projects in the agricultural sector.
The Centre is a joint project between the Agricultural Research Institute of Ontario, the University of Guelph and the Dairy Farmers of Ontario. The Centre will focus on research, education and training for Ontario and Canadian dairy farmers.
“I am pleased to announce the federal government is investing in the dairy industry and in local dairy farmers,” Chong said. “The new Livestock Research and Innovation Centre in Elora will help ensure Ontario’s dairy industry remains an important part of the Canadian economy.”
The new Dairy Livestock Research and Innovation Centre will conduct world-class research, foster innovation and help the industry develop new opportunities across the entire dairy supply chain.
The federal government funding complements investments made by the Province of Ontario, Dairy Farmers of Ontario and industry participants.
